Our Story

I was born in Lhasa, Tibet and raised across the world - a simple sentence that carries the truth of my life.

As a “modern nomad,” I left Lhasa and moved through cities and cultures that shaped who I became. But in the sleepless nights - in the rush, noise, and quiet loneliness of urban life - I felt the stillness inside me slipping further and further away.

Until one rain-soaked night in New York.

I stepped out of the subway into a downpour and ran back toward my apartment, clutching a Wholefoods bag that was already starting to give out. By the time I reached the building, the bag had split, and the cheesecake I’d looked forward to all day was lost somewhere.

When I walked into my apartment, the room was dark. I didn’t even have the energy to turn on the light. Water dripped from my hair, and exhaustion hollowed me out until only one thought remained:

“Why am I here?”

As I reached into the bottom of my backpack, my fingers brushed against the prayer beads and Ga'u box I had carried from home.

In that quiet moment, my heart filled - not with logic, but with memory.

I realized the power I felt wasn’t from the objects themselves, but from everything they held - the wind of the plateau, the shimmer of the holy lakes, the warmth of our hearth, the weight of the earth, and the rhythm of a culture carried through generations.

After that night, I continued my journey with a new understanding - a quiet strength from Tibetan plateau that traveled with me. Along the way, I began to see reflections of my past self in many others: people moving between identities and cities, strong on the surface yet quietly longing for belonging and peace.

And I realized,
If my culture could hold me so gently, it could hold others too.

This is why I created Selwha.

Selwha, in Tibetan, means light and manifestation.
Through contemporary design, I reinterpret the symbols, stories, and spirit of the Himalayas to create jewelry that carries this quiet depth — pieces that bring cultural strength back into everyday life as something you can see, touch, and feel.

My wish is simple,
That through Selwha, you find your own quiet strength - and that somewhere along your journey, you feel a soft, unmistakable light touch your life.
